Our Story

The Meeting
Sara met Jon on her last visit to Anchorage just before she officially made the 3,000 mile move to Alaska in October. Their first interchange was a “hello”; their second was a conversation at a party. His smile melted Sara’s heart, and Jon found Sara to be a breath of fresh air, conversational and beautiful to boot.

BFF’s
Jon and Sara connected again when her computer broke. Sara’s roomies knew Jon was very capable when it came to fixing computers, and called him to rescue Sara. After that, Jon spent every day at Sara’s house. After five days, Sara said to Jon, “I think we’re like BFF’s now.” At first Jon was saddened at the prospect of being only friends. Later that night, as they chatted on the phone, Sara asked Jon, “Do you like me?” Jon responded, “I do”, words they’ll share again under an arbor in June.

I Love You’s
Jon and Sara fell in love and were inseparable. One evening on the front porch of Sara’s house, Jon looked into Sara’s eyes and couldn’t find the words to describe how he felt. He knew she completed him. “I love you” came from Jon’s mouth and Sara sealed it with a kiss.

Later, amidst ice sculptures at a park in downtown Anchorage, frigidly cold wind whipping at her face, Sara looked up into Jon’s face and saw her future. She spoke the words they both felt, “I love you.”

Getting to the Proposal
Being that Sara’s family lives in the Northwest, having Jon meet her family was a bit more difficult. The solution finally came when Sara had to go away to work in Boston for six weeks. Her sister and mother would be joining her, so Jon bought a ticket and headed to the east coast. Jon returned to Alaska with Sara’s heart and the approval of mom and sister.

Jon knew he would spend his life with Sara and had one more stop along the way before proposing. On February 23rd, Jon flew into Portland, Oregon, met Sara’s father, and asked him for her hand in marriage.

She Said Yes!
Sara returned to Alaska in time for their Friday Date Night. Halfway through their evening, Jon proposed to Sara on an ice rink, surrounded by ice sculptures, the first place she told him she loved him. On March 4, 2011, Sara told Jon she wanted to be by his side through time and eternity.

…Gonna Get Married!
Jon and Sara will symbolize their love for each other June 11, 2011, at Heavenly Lodge in Cooper’s Landing. A match made in heaven, two souls inseparable.
